Butterfly Protection - Every little bit helps

Terra Eclat emphasizes the butterflies’ natural beauty in jewelry, reminding you every day to protect one of nature’s most important pollinators

By using Non-Endangered butterflies in our jewelry, Terra Eclat aims to raise awareness of the issues affecting all habitiats, including butterfly habitats.

Butterflies are an integral part of our eco-system and are under threat due to habitat loss, air pollution and unpredictable seasonal change. They help with the pollination and seed dispersal of plants and crops. In addition, they are an essential part of the food chain for many species

The project is an alternative, sustainable income to rural communities, who in turn help to protect the butterfly’s habitat. Every little bit helps. None of the butterflies we use are on the CITES list of protected animals.

By following the school of Bodyshops founder, Anita Riddick, “Trade Not Aid” focusing on Sustainability, the Environment, Helping the People and their Communities.

Travelling the globe, the designers spend their time sourcing rare and unusual natural treasures including gemstones and fossils. Over the last 10 years, they have forged valuable personal relationships with miners and artisans. Based on fair dealing and mutual trust.

Using the second oldest trade in the world; Jewellery. They created a unique brand that encapsulates the beauty and splendour of the earth, while loving it & preserving it. (The actual meaning of the brand name Terra Eclat is ‘Splendour of the Earth’)

We strive to have happy artisans and happy customers

Helping the People, Communities, Poverty,

Our production is the primary income for 15 families, in 3 countries helping them and their communities. 80% of our collection is hand-made by the most incredible artisans from Bali, Indonesia, India & Nepal.

Fair Trade

Our workshops implement Fairtrade practices; we provide local jobs, fair wages, and safe and progressive working conditions.

Artisans Story: In 2011, we opened our first workshop in Bali, while searching the local area for talent, we met a husband and wife silversmith team. Coming from a poverty stricken region in jobless Java to find work.

Their living conditions were so upsetting; all they had was a single cardboard box containing everything they owned in a small rundown dark room, where they ate, worked and slept with their young daughter.

We employed them and to date, they manage our entire Bali Production in a purpose built workshop and have a restaurant business on the side.

Positive Growth.

What we create

  1. Real Butterfly Jewellery - Our butterflies and moths originate from countries all over the world including Peru (South America), Sumatra (Indonesia) and The butterfly farms provide an alternative, sustainable income to rural communities, helping to protect the eco-system against deforestation. Forming the first line of defence against butterfly extinctions. These projects also release approximately 20% of farm-raised butterflies into the wild to rejuvenate the local species.

  1. Real Leaf Jewellery - These leafs and seeds are mostly from deciduous trees a naturally recurring resource. Adorn yourself with the beauty of the forest forever; with real leaves in 18ct gold Real Leaves preserved forever in Gold. Look closely, it is the actual Real Leaf inside. Each one is unique. A specially grown, fresh cut leaf, handpicked for exquisite quality and shape. Delicately processed to reveal the leaves structure. It’s natural beauty preserved forever in your favorite precious metal. Anti-allergic and nickel free, crafted in a fair trade philosophy workshop. Forever Leaves. Forever Yours.

  1. Gemstone Jewellery - We only use second-hand or recycled Diamonds; Diamond mining is one of the most environmentally destructive and polluting operations. For each diamond, 200-400 Million times its weight is removed from the Earth, decimating the eco-system.

  1. Woolly Mammoth Ivory Jewellery - The Woolly Mammoth is a prehistoric relative to the present day elephant, and has been extinct for thousands of Mammoth tusks are found in the tundra of Alaska and Siberia, and profits support the native populations of both areas. Because we only use fossil mammoth ivory, NOT elephant tusk, absolutely no elephants were harmed during the making of our beautiful carvings.

  1. Moldavite Meteorite Jewellery - Moldavite Meteorite is a unique green Tektite, the result of a meteorite impact 15 Million Years Ago, found in the Czech Each precious piece is ethically mined by hand, after mining the area is returned to its former glory, as the shafts and pits are shallow and easily filled. Unlike other gemstone mining there is little risk involved. No chemicals are used throughout the process, only water. For many generations Moldavite mining has supported the local communities in rural Czech Republic.

  1. Australian Opal Jewellery - All of our opals are from one families mine in Coober Pedy, The land has been owned, mined, processed and sold by three generations of the same family. This sustains development in artisanal mining as it lessens the need for prospecting creating abandoned mining shafts which can lead to sinkholes and other dangers, the Coober Pedy mining community is small but dedicated and the land will be repossessed by the government if they do not continue to mine opal rich land, some of the miners are 70 years old and proud.
